Robots that fly ... and cooperate | Vijay Kumar

Vijay Kumar, an engineering professor at the University of Pennsylvania, showed the more than 1,300 attendees at TED conference several videos in which fleets of tiny flying robots performed a series of intricate manuevers, working together on tasks without colliding or interfering with each others' flightworthiness. It seemed that, a bridge had been crossed into a new era of technology, one that could change the way we think about robots and their application to such fields as construction, shipping and responding to emergencies.

Kumar's "Autonomous Agile Aerial Robots" coordinated on building straightforward structures and demonstrated they were capable of entering a building for the first time and rapidly developing a guide that would take into consideration evaluation and reaction to an auxiliary fall or fire. 

He held up one robot, designed by his students, which measures somewhat more than a tenth of a pound and is around 8 inches in diameter. The robot has four rotors; when they turn at a similar speed, the robot drifts. In the event that you increment the speed, Kumar clarified, the robot flies up. Turning one rotor quicker than the one inverse it makes the robot tilt. It likewise can flip over various circumstances without losing its capacity to fly and can recover its stability when tossed into the air.

The robots are fit for learning directions and manueuvers that can empower them to actually fly through circles - and other confined spaces.

At the point when the robots are formed into a flotilla, they calculate (a hundred times a second) and keep up a protected separation between them. He demonstrated a video of 20 robots flying in a different formations and moving through obstacles -- inches from each other without meddling the stability of their neighbors. 

For me, the oral communication of Prof. Vijay Comar was excellent. The way he demonstrated the Flying Robots was very exciting and interesting. He got my attention and helped me appreciate more about the topic Flying Robots that someday can be a big help in the community in responding disaster and emergency. These robots can also be used in the field of construction, shipping and the military as well.

As a professional in the engineering field, you probably appreciate the value of a solid education.  Without a foundational background in the maths and sciences, for an example, you most likely wouldn’t be able to perform even the most basic of daily job tasks. Your advanced degree is equally as valuable; providing you the intricate knowledge of the finer points of engineering necessary to obtain most entry-level positions.  There’s one degree, however, that may have left you puzzling when it comes to the age-old equation of value versus investment.  

The strong analytical capability that engineers possess is highly valued in the business world, but it is imperative that you also understand the other, more qualitative, aspects. These qualitative skills are what engineers stereotypically lack; we like black and white answers, but in the business world, it’s not typically that simple.

It's important to pursue an MBA degree with a dream of career advancement. Engineers often become the primary manager of change with an organization. The cost of attaining that coveted acronym is no mere chump change. But it's worth it at end.

CNN: Benjamin Netanyahu: About time US recognized Jerusalem as capital

During the interview with CNN, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said "several countries" are considering moving their embassies to Jerusalem in the wake of US President Donald Trump's decision to recognize the city as the capital of Israel. 

On Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital, Netanyahu added: "I think what it does is finally recognize a historical truth.

"Jerusalem has been the capital of Israel for 3,000 years from the time of King David. It has been the capital of Israel for 70 years, and it's about time that the US said, and I'm glad they said, 'This is the capital and we recognize it' and I think that's going to be followed by other countries."

"The most important condition that we need for an effective, sustainable peace for both Palestinians and Israelis and for the region is for a situation where Israel has overriding security control of this tiny area," Netanyahu said, referring to the entirety of Israel and the West Bank.

Being a critical thinker will still be a valued skillset for the new decade 2020. Critical thinking involves being able to use logic and reasoning to interrogate an issue or problem, consider various solutions to the problem, and weigh up the pros and cons of each approach.

WHEN NEWS ARE BAD NEWS

The company was founded by Nick Woodman in 2002. He was motivated by a 2002 surfing trip to Australia in which he was hoping to capture quality action photos, but could not because amateur photographers could not get close enough or buy quality equipment at reasonable prices. His desire for a camera system that could capture the professional angles inspired the 'GoPro' name.

Shortly after introducing the Karma drone in October 2016, GoPro recalled it because of in-flight battery problems that caused it to lose power in flight and crash. GoPro said it fixed the problem and re-released the drone. 

The impact on sales was “significant,” Woodman said.

“Unfortunately, all of those retailers understandably felt inclined to remove GoPro from their promotions,” he acknowledged. “We could not get them enough inventory to warrant the spend that they were going to make.”

GoPro CEO Nick Woodman has announced several countermeasures following further bad news on business development.

• The action camera manufacturer from the USA ends the experiment with its Drone Karma, which has to fight with weak battery power, technical problems and strong competition from China.
• GoPro cuts over 250 jobs, which is one-fifth of the entire workforce.
• A business partner should help to stop the decline of the former successful company. “If there are opportunities for us to unite with a bigger parent company to scale GoPro even bigger, that is something that we would look at,“ said GoPro CEO Nick Woodman to CNBC.

The drone business for gopro was very new to them because they focused on making action cameras for sports enthusiasts and adrenaline junkies.

There is already a stablished company in the market that sells drones with high definition cameras. The Phantom is a series of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) developed by Chinese technology company DJI. It's a big risk for a company like gopro to compete in the drone market. Because DJI Phantom drones are highly favored in that kind of category. Actually it's a very good move for gopro to join the drone competition. 

Way back 2016, when the news came out that gopro will be making a drone. I was so excited to read the news because I love the company. I said to myself, Yes, finally GoPro will be making drones. If only they fully furnished the prototype with a series of tests before releasing it on the market. It would be a huge success for their drone business. But that's not the case. They've released it prematurely without trial and error. And it cause them a lot. They've tried to save the drone karma but its already to late. They have cut jobs because of this crisis.

Hello Guys Welcome to my blog!

This is my first and official post. I’m very new to this whole blog thing! I’ve wanted to have a proper blog or make videos for quiet a while now, and so I guess this is the beginning of my ‘blog journey’!

My name is Mark Panchito. I am from the Philippines, I am a Registered Mechanical Engineer (ME) by profession and currently taking up Master in Business Administration (MBA) at Xavier University Ateneo De Cagayan.

I love doing engineering stuffs especially robotics, playing guitar, doing sports that I love, reading books, like my bible, coffee & chocolates, spending hours in my bed watching youtube and I love scuba diving.
